Trunki-maker targets Americas with US deal
Magmatic, the Bristol-based designer and distributor of children’s travel products, is about to launch its products in 22 countries across North and South America, after signing a licensing and manufacturing deal with Melissa & Doug, a US toy-maker and distributor. Its initial pre-orders through the US distributor are for 50,000 units.

Devon recycling firm directors banned
Three directors who ran a Devon recycling business, which collapsed with debts of more than £118,000, have been banned from running or starting other companies. Roger Baker, Derek Pester, and Hannah Jayne MacDonald ran Devon Dismantling and Recycling, which was put in liquidation two years ago.

Jelf units brought together
Jelf Insurance Brokers and Lampier, two Bristol-based sister insurance broking operations, are being brought together under one leadership team from 1 October 2010. The new entity will be named Jelf Lampier and will be led by Simon James, currently managing director of Lampier.

House prices edge higher in September
House prices inched higher in September following two months of decline, according to a new survey from the building society Nationwide, suggesting that the market may be holding up despite worries of a prolonged spell of weakness.

College opens university centre
South Devon College has opened the doors of its new university centre. The £8m new building will initially be used by 450 higher education students and as the college's Business Advantage centre.
