Kenmare bags the treble

Rob Kenmare was last night named Lancashire Dealmaker of the Year at Insider's annual black tie awards dinner in Blackburn. Kenmare, a partner at accountancy Moore & Smalley, was celebrating his third year on the podium having been named Young Dealmaker in 2006 and Corporate Finance Adviser of the Year at the 2007 awards. Also shortlisted were Richard Smith of Bank of Scotland, last year's winner John Green of Pierce, John Daly of Tenon, Andrew Clare of Napthens and Richard Spielbichler, GE Commercial Finance. The award was sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland. Over 320 professionals and business people attended the prestigious event, which was compered by Mark Edwardson of BBC North West, to celebrate the cream of Lancashire corporate finance activity. All the awards were voted for by the dealmaking community itself.

Engineered for a win

Winner Management buyout of Bolton Engineering

This precision engineering company, based in Farnworth, is one of the UK's leading suppliers of aircraft components and also conveyor systems to the food industry. Clients of the company include Rolls-Royce and Kelloggs. The MBO, led by managing director Keith Harrison, was based around a buyout of existing shareholders, including 3i. Preston law firm Napthens Solicitors and Blackburn-based accountancy Pierce advised the MBO team on the deal, which was funded by GE Commercial Finance.
