Give cash to North West, says PSP
The coalition government’s decision to retain the controversial Barnett Formula should not stop poorer areas of the North West gaining additional funding to help them fight the economic downturn. That's according to Private Sector Partners (PSP), which represents 140,000 North West companies.

Winners unveiled at tourism Oscars
The 'Oscars' of the North West tourism world celebrated the best the industry has to offer at a glittering ceremony last night. Among the winners were the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Manchester which won the best large hotel category and Dream in St Helens won the best public space award.

Graduates hired at PwC
Almost 40 new graduates have been appointed to work across PricewaterhouseCoopers' offices in Liverpool and Manchester. The graduates, most of whom will be studying for the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) qualification, will work in the firm’s assurance, business recovery, forensic, risk assurance, public sector and tax departments.

Top Gear in Sainsbury’s deal
Recruitment agency Top Gear has secured a contract with supermarket giant Sainsbury’s. The company, which operates five branches around the North West and Yorkshire, will supply workers to the retailer’s Haydock depot.

Nutrition Point in marketing drive
Warrington-based Nutrition Point, which advises Asda on "free from" products, has announced a series of marketing activities devised to help the retail giant engage with consumers. It comes as new figures show the gluten and wheat free market is worth £108.3m, an increase of 18 per cent year on year.
