UKFast set for £12.5m green energy push
Manchester-based web hosting company UKFast has launched a new green energy business that plans to invest £12.5m in hydroelectric power stations over the next three to five years. UKFast Energy has identified 11 sites in Scotland and Wales – one of which should be ready to start feeding green energy into the grid within 12 months. The business is also set to open a new £3m data centre at Trafford Park.

Revenues up and contract win for Promethean
Lancashire education technology group Promethean World this morning revealed it remains confident of hitting full-year targets, with group revenues up 25 per cent to £193.7m in the nine months to 30 September. It has also secured the largest single tender to date from an EU country for its interactive whiteboard technology.

Styles & Wood expects to turn a profit
Altrincham fit-out group Styles & Wood today said it expects to return to profit in the current financial year, with revenues of between £95m and £100m.

Rochdale and Lancashire prepare for cuts
Rochdale and Lancashire councils are the latest local authorities to confirm further job cuts are on the way following the government's spending review. Up to 350 jobs are to go at Rochdale Council, while a reported 6,000 are at risk at Lancashire County Council.

Payroll services provider Parasol is targeting revenues of £500m within the next five years despite a dip in performance over the past 12 months. Founder and chief executive Rob Crossland told Insider that trading in the current year has been "up and down" but said there were still opportunities in the recruitment sector despite the public sector spending cuts.

CB Richard Ellis has acquired 17,280 sq ft at 40 Spring Gardens, Manchester city centre, on behalf of international insurance group AON. The space has been taken on a sub-lease from Bank of Scotland.

Investec Spinningfields deal confirmed
Allied London has let 7,500 sq ft at 3 Hardman Street in Spinningfields, Manchester, to Investec Private Bank. The bank and asset manager will occupy the second floor of the multi-tenanted building, which has proven a magnet for professional services occupiers.

Kuehne & Nagel signs for 40,000 sq ft at Manchester Airport
MAG Developments, the property and development arm of the Manchester Airports Group, has sealed its biggest letting of 2010. Logistics giant Kuehne & Nagel has signed a three-year lease on 39,350 sq ft at the World Freight Terminal.
