Park looks to Ireland for growth
Park Group, the gift voucher company based in Birkenhead, is to expand into Ireland following the acquisition of two rivals. The business has bought the brand name and customers of Dublin-based Celtic Hampers and Family Hampers for a cash consideration of €1m, providing the companies meet certain performance criteria.

Odeon signs at Central Village
Cinema group Odeon is to open a second Liverpool city centre cinema. Developer Merepark has announced that Odeon is to operate a six-screen cinema at its £200m Central Village scheme.

Mersey Gateway secures £80m
Fears that the government could reduce funding for the £431m Mersey Gateway project have been allayed following confirmation that it will provide £80m over the next four years. Chancellor George Osborne announced the project would go ahead in the Comprehensive Spending Review last Wednesday, but didn’t clarify how much money the scheme would receive.

Aldi opens in St Johns
German supermarket chain Aldi has opened a 16,500 sq ft store in Liverpool’s St Johns Shopping Centre. The discount retailer signed a 15-year lease on the Land Securities-owned property.
