JLA keeps on growing
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) has moved up to eighth place in the league table of the busiest UK airport. According to a new report published by consultancy RDC Aviation, the airport reported the largest increase in passenger numbers of any UK airport during the first third of the year, compared with the same period in 2009.

Overseas buyer set for Liverpool, says Harris
An unnamed overseas buyer is considering making an offer of between £400m and £500m for Liverpool FC, according to reports. Keith Harris, the former Football League chairman, said due diligence has already been completed by the potential purchaser.

Pilkington owner looks to raise up to £380m
The Japanese owner of St Helens-based glass manufacturer Pilkington is to raise up to £380m through a new share placing, the company has confirmed. Nippon Sheet Glass (NSG) said the cash would be used to renew and expand its plants as well as to repay debts.

Liverpool John Moores University has signed up to be a prime sponsor of the Green Power Forum Conference 2010 (GPF). Green light for £28m Everyman
Liverpool City Council has granted planning approval for the new Everyman Theatre in Hope Street. The designs for the £28m redevelopment, which is scheduled to open in 2013, include a 400-seat auditorium and recreation of the bistro.

Oak to grow in Prescot
Tyre wholesale distributor Oak Tyres has secured planning permission from Knowsley Council to build a tyre-fitting and MOT centre in Warrington Road, Prescot. The new development will be constructed on a vacant brownfield site that has been empty for several years following the closure and demolition of a petrol station.

GETC work set to start
Work is set to start on the new Green Energy Training Centre (GETC) in Wirral. The centre, which is costing £280,000 to construct, expects to open its doors in November.
