Peel’s on-off LEP bid is officially off
North West property giant Peel Group has withdrawn its bid to form a local enterprise partnership (LEP) after all, the company has confirmed. Peter Nears, the group’s strategic planning director, said the business was not now looking to create a “formal LEP”.

YFM backs Connect2Media
Manchester-headquartered Connect2Media, one of the UK's largest digital entertainment publishers, has completed a major new round of investment. YFM Private Equity has joined primary funder Acuity Capital in an undisclosed cash injection of funds to enable the company to expand its North American operations.

New authority faces £578m spending cuts
Greater Manchester’s new combined authority, set to replace the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) next year, could be in place as early as January providing the government gives it the go-ahead. The news comes as AGMA’s executive board will today discuss ways in which the ten local authorities can cut spending by £578m over the next three years.

Land Rover in 1,000 new jobs drive
Land Rover is to embark on a recruitment drive and create 1,000 new jobs at its Halewood plant in Merseyside. The news comes as the company prepares to launch its Range Rover Evoque at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, set to be built at the Knowsley site.

Moorfield Media cancels Hubbub conference
Manchester-based Moorfield Media has been forced to pull its conference, exhibition and networking event Hubbub, due to take place at Spinningfields in Manchester next month, after it became clear the “event would not reach the expectations of exhibitors, speakers and visitors at this time”.

£2m expansion plan for holiday village
A £2m expansion plan for Port Haverigg in Cumbria has been unveiled by the Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP). A new tourist information centre and cafe are part of the plans being developed by the Preston-based architecture and design practice.
