Land Rover in 1,000 new jobs drive
Land Rover is to embark on a recruitment drive and create 1,000 new jobs at its Halewood plant in Merseyside. The news comes as the company prepares to launch its Range Rover Evoque at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, set to be built at the Knowsley site.

Hotel owner in administration
A hotel owner in Liverpool has gone into administration. Daniel Butters and Bill Dawson, partners at Deloitte, were appointed administrators of Honey Properties (Liverpool) on 10 September following a directors’ application.

Firm fined after employee death
A major construction firm has been fined £160,000 after a labourer fell to his death while building Everton FC’s new training academy. Karl Davis was working on the first floor of a building on the Finch Lane site in Halewood when a guardrail gave way and he fell out of an open window frame.

Peel’s on-off LEP bid is officially off
North West property giant Peel Group has withdrawn its bid to form a local enterprise partnership (LEP) after all, the company has confirmed. Peter Nears, the group’s strategic planning director, said the business was not now looking to create a “formal LEP”.
