March UK returns to profit amid 'resilient' trading
Speke-based internet and catalogue home shopping business March UK has returned to profit. In its recently-published annual reports to 30 April 2010, the business posted a recorded a profit of £1.8m - up from its £99.3m loss in 2009. Turnover was slightly down though to £1.92bn.

Manufacturing deal for Furlong
Liverpool-based Furlong Innovations has signed a deal with Cornwall-based manufacturer Teddington to manufacture a new "energy-saving" boiler device. The 'CombiSave' aims to reduce the times taken for water to run hot, said Furlong.

Budget airline Ryanair has added a new route from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to its summer flying programme in 2011. The Irish-based company is to begin flying to Toulon in the south of France.

Saturn Energy in hospital warning
Liverpool-based energy analyst Saturn Energy says NHS hospitals are struggling under increasing budget pressures caused by the extremely cold conditions affecting the UK. The company says hospitals could face a 30 per cent rise in energy bills.
