Fruitapeel in jobs drive
Confectionery sauce and fruit juice manufacturer Fruitapeel is on course to hit a turnover of £12.5m in the current financial year after expanding into Wales and securing a string of new contracts with the likes of Iceland and The Co-operative Group. The company, which is based in Liverpool and Skelmersdale, also plans to take on more than 40 new staff across the group over the next six months, its managing director told Insider.

Liverpool web design company Switch Media has launched a digital marketing agency called Tokyo. The new business, which will be based in Liverpool and London, will offer social marketing, viral and mobile services.

GB beats the odds with 12Bet.com
Chester identity management business GB Group has secured a deal with online betting company 12Bet.com to manage its online ID verification processes. The contract marks 12Bet.com’s move into the European market.

Norkem expands down under
Cheshire-headquartered chemicals business Norkem has opened a new office in Australia. Managing director Graham Lewis said the move would allow Norkem to reach new markets while serving existing ones.

FPB criticises parking levy
The Forum of Private Business has criticised a council plan to introduce a workplace parking levy (WPL) scheme, which will see businesses being taxed on parking provisions they provide for staff. The organisation said it was "deeply opposed" to the scheme and believed it would "provoke fury among business owners, who could be forced to pay tens of thousands of pounds each year".

Mashood launches latest venture
The owner of Liverpool’s Mayur Indian restaurant is set to open a new venture in the city. Arif Mashood will open Cafe A2Z at Grosvenor’s One Park West development later this week.

NHS trust takes Sycamore space
Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has leased 5,000 sq ft of space at Cheshire Oaks Business Park in Ellesmere Port from Eric Wright Group. It plans to use the space in Sycamore House for a training centre for its own staff as well as those of third parties.

B&M expands in Swansea
B&M Retail, which is set to open its new headquarters in Speke next month, has agreed a 15-year lease at Phoenix Retail Park in Swansea. B&M operates the B&M Bargains chain of stores and has taken 18,900 sq ft at the park.
