Liverpool will bear the brunt of cuts, warns Anderson
Joe Anderson, the leader of Liverpool City Council, has hit out at claims the government’s spending reductions for local authorities has been fair and claimed that Liverpool’s economy will suffer as it has borne the brunt of the cuts. The council is preparing to shed up to 1,500 jobs as it looks to save £91m over the next financial year.

AppSense secures £43m investment
Warrington software company AppSense has secured a £43m investment from global investment bank Goldman Sachs. The company, based in Daresbury, said the investment would help to expand its product range and help it to venture into new markets like Asia and South America.

Willmott Dixon set for Birkenhead school revamp
Willmott Dixon has signed a contract worth £10.3m to renovate Birkenhead High School Academy. The company will refurbish the school’s nursery, infant and junior school buildings and construct a new three-storey building to house a library, ICT facilities, a hall and additional classrooms.
