Anderson to target London investors

Liverpool’s pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai could be moved to London once the event finishes, according to new Liverpool City Council leader Joe Anderson. Speaking to Insider following the launch of Liverpool Business Week yesterday, organised by Downtown Liverpool in Business, Anderson said he hoped such a move would help to attract further inward investors to the city. He said: “We’re looking to rent somewhere in central London from early next year. We’ll then bring people to Liverpool during the boat show next April so they can see the city’s assets first hand and experience what it has to offer. It’s a fantastic way of showcasing development sites and opportunities.” However, the move could come at the expense of Liverpool’s presence at property festival MIPIM. Anderson said the city would only exhibit at the event in Cannes if there was enough support from the private sector.

Royal Liver deal edges nearer

Royal London’s takeover of mutual insurer Royal Liver has moved a step closer after the business signed a “non-binding head of terms agreement” which will allow for further due diligence. Both companies will now carry out due diligence to decide whether a deal would be in the best interests of their respective members. No final proposals for the transfer have been tabled for the 200-strong Royal Liver board to consider. If a deal is struck it would have to be approved by 75 per cent of Royal Liver’s delegates.
