£150k raised for 'permanent' London embassy

Business leaders in Liverpool have donated more than £150,000 to fund the city's 'embassy' in London. Downtown Liverpool in Business chairman Frank McKenna also told Insider there is solid support for the scheme and hopes the three-month project can become permanent.

Funding deal behind Wongs move
Liverpool-based Wongs Jewellers has secured £150,000 in funding from NatWest. The family-owned jeweller is to use the funds as part of a move from Rainford Square to 19 Whitechapel, situated in the shopping area between the Metquarter and Church Street in Liverpool.

Hammond and Pickles green light Mersey Gateway
Mersey Gateway backers have praised the government’s decision to give planning approval to the project. The approval has now been officially signed off by transport secretary Philip Hammond and local government secretary Eric Pickles. It gives the green light for the project team to begin the procurement process during 2011.

£4m Gulliver's hotel work to begin
Warrington theme park Gulliver’s is to begin work on a £4m hotel next month, it has announced. The development is set to create 30 jobs in the build process with a further 55 roles anticipated when it opens later in 2011.

Liverpool FC have signed a contract with Liverpool-based video search business Edit.TV to produce personalised match highlights. The footage will be available via the Liverpool FC TV website.

Corporation Pop for Creamfields
Liverpool-based Cream has awarded Manchester design consultancy Corporation Pop the contract to deliver the publicity campaign for the Creamfields 2011 dance festival.

NWAA signs up more members
Aerospace group North West Aerospace Alliance has signed up 12 new members to take its numbers to more than 360. Companies from Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and Cumbria have joined the cluster organisation.

Watson to leave Business Link
Peter Watson, the managing director of Business Link Northwest, is to leave his post at the end of the year, it has been announced. He will be replaced by Donna Edwards, who takes over on 1 January.
