Peel's "game changing" LEP bid lives on
Property giant Peel Group is pressing ahead with its controversial proposals to form a local enterprise partnership (LEP) in the region, Insider can reveal. The news comes in spite of a statement released by the Atlantic Gateway Leaders Group earlier this month suggesting Peel had agreed to drop the plans in favour of working with other North West LEP submissions.

Think wins place on high growth programme
Liverpool PR, marketing and events agency Think Publicity has been selected to join the Northwest Regional Development Agency's (NWDA) high growth programme after reporting growth of between 20 and 25 per cent for the past three years.

Award success for Lime Street
The £2.6m upgrade to Liverpool Lime Street Station has been rewarded at the National Rail Awards 2010 with the station being named Overall Station of the Year. The station also won the Large Station of the Year award.

Council fears for Blackpool’s B&M workers
Blackpool Council said it has “hit a brick wall” in its efforts to deal with B&M Retail over workers affected by the company’s decision to relocate from the town to a site in Liverpool. The council fears that “hundreds of workers” will lose their jobs over the coming weeks as existing workers cannot afford to commute or relocate to the new site.

Peckforton Castle reports sales spike
Cheshire hotel Peckforton Castle has reported a spike in sales following completion of a £1.7m upgrade to its facilities. Sales at the 48-bedroom venue were up 7 per cent in August compared with the same month last year, making it the most successful month since it was acquired by its current owners in 2006.

Knight Frank has been instructed by Taylor Hutchinson to market 6,400 sq ft of office space at 58 and 60 Rodney Street in Liverpool. The Grade II-listed buildings offer a mix of office and residential accommodation across four floors and basements.

Chester Zoo redevelopment given go-ahead
Plans for the ambitious £225m redevelopment of Chester Zoo have been given the go-ahead by Cheshire West and Chester Council. The proposals include a biodome and a 150-bedroom hotel – all on green belt land.
