WikiLeaks scandal provides NCC boost
Manchester IT security and assurance business NCC Group this morning said it was well placed to take a market lead in the global information security and cyber crime ‘arms race’ as revenues and profits surged in the first half of its financial year. Chief executive Rob Cotton told Insider the company would be the first to denounce the WikiLeaks organisation for releasing such public-sensitive information, but said it had created a “splendid” opportunity for NCC, with IT security now a firm priority for governments and multinationals.

Mersey Gateway is good value, says Nicholson
A report that casts doubt on the long-term financial viability of the planned £431m second bridge linking Runcorn and Widnes has been attacked by senior figures working on the scheme. Mersey Gateway project director Steve Nicholson told Insider the report was "misleading" and "a deliberate attempt to undermine the project". His comments came after the Campaign for Better Transport, which published the report, said it was unlikely that money raised through tolls would ever cover the cost of the six lane bridge.
