Strong year for Princes
Sales at Liverpool-headquartered food and drink giant Princes have topped the £1bn mark for a second year running. The business has been owned by Japan’s largest general trading company Mitsubishi Corporation since 1989 and said the figures reflect the “continued growth of the business”.

British Salt sold for £93m
Private equity firm LDC has disposed of its investment in Cheshire Salt Holdings, the parent company of Middlewich-based British Salt, with a £93m sale to Tata Chemicals subsidiary Brunner Mond. LDC’s Manchester office backed the original management buyout of British Salt in 2007, acquiring the business from its US parent company.

£22.9m loss for Proventec
Proventec has reported a pre-tax loss of £22.9m for the 18 months to 30 September 2010. The Liverpool steam cleaning and coatings business reported turnover of £22.6m for the period in its unaudited preliminary results.

McShane warns on energy costs

Morgan Sindall wins award for £63m AZ project
Warrington-based design and engineering consultancy Morgan Sindall Professional Services has been awarded the UK’s Engineering Project of the Year 2010. It was given by the Institution of Chemical Engineers for the company’s design of a £63m research and development site based in Macclesfield for pharmaceutical business AstraZeneca.
