Onteca hopes for monster sales
Liverpool games developer Onteca is hoping the launch of its first-ever title for the Nintendo Wii console can act as a catalyst for growth. The company’s managing director Jon Wetherall told Insider the business has invested more than £100,000 in the Monsteca Corral: Monsters vs Robots game after two years in the making. The title goes on sale in Europe today.

Stobart set for further growth
North West transport and logistics giant Stobart Group is forecasting continued growth for the second-half of the year, buoyed by a series of new contract wins. In a trading update to the Stock Exchange, the company said performance of the business is “significantly ahead” of the same period last year despite challenging market conditions.

Ph Creative opens in Spain
Liverpool digital marketing agency Ph Creative has opened an office in Spain following increased demand for its services. The company said the base in Valencia was designed to meet the growing number of enquiries coming from EU countries, as well as British companies seeking to exploit European markets.

Paver Smith set for Manchester growth
Liverpool-headquartered PR agency Paver Smith has doubled the floorplate of its Manchester office as it looks to further expand its presence in the city. The company has moved from the first to the second floor of Centurion House on Deansgate to allow staff numbers to increase from six to 12.

Retail sales grow, but Deloitte sounds warning
The volume of retail sales grew by 1.1 per cent in July, according to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics. However, Deloitte believes this could be hiding the economy’s weakness.

Sales still major manufacturers’ concern
A lack of sales remains the number one concern for manufacturers in the North West, research from the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) North West has indicated. A total of 24 per cent are worried about sales while other concerns include cash flow (16 per cent) and product development (13 per cent).

St Modwen has the Quay
Regeneration specialist St Modwen has announced five retail lettings at its £15m development in Connah’s Quay, Flintshire. Deals have been secured with five new retailers at the six-acre district centre: Greggs, Bargain Booze, Just Go Travel, Corbett bookmakers and Barnardos.

Sainsbury’s Crosby scheme on hold
Plans to build a new £50m Sainsbury’s store in Crosby have been put on hold despite being recommended for approval by planning officers. The 50,000 sq ft superstore in Moor Lane has been in the planning stages for the past 18 months, but has been met with fierce objection from some residents.

Williams Tarr wins £2.5m contracts
Warrington-based Williams Tarr Construction has landed two design and build contracts with major pension funds worth more than £2.5m. The company has secured deals in Bromborough and Cheetham Hill.

Neptune hands over Wirral seafront
A 34-acre area of New Brighton’s seafront has been handed back to Wirral Council following completion of Neptune Developments’ public realm works. Neptune started work in January, draining and dredging the marine lake and building a new model boating lake, car park and promenade.
