Gill joins new look Professional Liverpool
Business network and lobbying group Professional Liverpool is to continue as a privately-funded body following a surge of support from firms in the city. The organisation has also appointed former Liverpool Vision chief executive Jim Gill to its board and launched a new partnership with the University of Liverpool.

Liverpool Science Park has taken another step in its development with the launch of five new high-tech laboratories in its ic2 building on Brownlow Hill. Cougar Leisure calls in administrators
Lancashire pub operator Cougar Leisure has gone into administration. Joint administrators at insolvency firm Begbies Traynor have appointed Christie + Co to market its six remaining pubs and bars spread across the north of England.

Fewer business failures in the North West
Fewer businesses went bust in the North West in 2010 than during the previous year, according to figures from information business Equifax. There were year-on-year falls in each quarter for the region.

Fleming joins Ice
Fiona Fleming, a former head of marketing at Liverpool City Council, has joined Wirral agency Ice. Fleming, who worked on campaigns for Liverpool's successful World Heritage bid and Capital of Culture year, has joined the marketing and communications agency as head of marketing.

FCH wins trio of Birmingham contracts
Liverpool architects’ firm FCH has secured three contract wins in Birmingham. FCH has been appointed to work on the new Marco Pierre White restaurant in The Cube, and will also work on the restoration of two vacant 1960s buildings in the city.
