Dale Street hotel plans recommended for approval
Plans to develop a £10m hotel in Liverpool’s Dale Street are set to get the go-ahead at a meeting next week. FourtwoFour, a subsidiary of Irish property group Benmore, intends to redevelop the site into a 123-bedroom hotel, for which heads of terms have been agreed with Ibis. It will also construct a 285-space multi-storey car park.

Social housing consultancy Pennington Choices has expanded its offer with the acquisition of a Kent-based asbestos specialist. The Runcorn business has bought Invicta Analytical Services for an undisclosed sum.

Clarion opens Merseyside practice
Yorkshire law firm Clarion has expanded into Merseyside with the launch of a new criminal and fraud services practice based in Formby. The new offering will be known as Clarion Advocates and be led by criminal lawyer Tony Murphy. The move has created five jobs.

Intrinsic in jobs boost
Intrinsic Technology is to more than double the size of its client services centre (CSC) team as part of plans to increase its overall headcount by 20 per cent. The Haydock-based unified communications company plans to create 20 jobs over the next 18 months with the expansion of the division.

Restructured Assura boosts revenues
Assura Group, based in Warrington, has posted first quarter revenues 17 per cent ahead of last year’s figures. The company, which has undergone significant restructuring in the last 12 months, was boosted by strong rental incomes.

Kelly replaces Ratcliffe at RBS
The Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest have appointed a new managing director for its business and commercial banking division in the north. Tony Kelly will replace Bill Ratcliffe, who is retiring after 34 years’ service.

Everyman leads host of schemes for Liverpool planners
A number of key projects are to be heard by Liverpool City Council’s planning committee, which meets on Tuesday. The application by Liverpool & Merseyside Theatres Trust to redevelop the Everyman Theatre in a £28m project is perhaps the most eye-catching.

Splash narrows losses to £10.3m
Property developer Urban Splash narrowed its annual losses to £10.3m in the year to 31 March 2010. The business lost £38.3m in the previous year and said the latest figures include £6.3m of exceptional items it expects will not reoccur.

Southdale makes North West move
Social and residential housing business Southdale is expanding into the North West with the opening on a new office in Warrington. Speaking to Insider, development director Declan McHugh said Southdale’s roots were firmly in Yorkshire but continued geographical expansion was necessary for its desired 20 per cent year-on-year growth.

Nobles recruits three
Liverpool-based Nobles Construction has expanded its team with three new appointments in response to a growing order book. The company’s three recruits are contracts manager Colin Dobson; John Rogers, who will take on the role of senior estimator; and Graeme Thomas, who takes on a senior commercial role.
