Durakerb secures £2m investment
Durapol Ireland, part of the construction and civil engineering business ABM Europe Group, has taken a 26 per cent share in Merseyside-based Durakerb Group for £2m.

Moneysupermarket buys online rival
Moneysupermarket.com, the internet comparison site operator, has acquired rival Financial Services Net. Moneysupermarket, which is based in Flintshire, will pay an initial £4.6m, rising to up to £9m depending on performance, for the Coventry-based operator of Financialservices.co.uk. Moneysupermarket said the acquisition would provide “a platform for the group to broaden its brand offering to a wider range of customer segments in the money and insurance (divisions)”.

Green backs wind farm plans
Wirral Council leader Jeff Green has backed Liverpool’s attempts to ensure it benefits from wind farm proposals in the Irish Sea. The Mersey Partnership yesterday confirmed it has assembled a partnership including Cammell Laird, Peel Ports and Stobart in a bid to push the city region as a centre for the offshore wind industry.

Merseyrail hopes to avert strike action
Merseyrail has said it is hopeful of reaching an agreement with unions over planned strike action. Rail union Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) confirmed it has begun balloting staff, excluding guards and drivers, in a row over pay.

Everton scheme set for approval
Everton FC’s plan to develop a 55,000 sq ft commercial building behind the Park End at Goodison Park will today go before Liverpool City Council planning committee with a recommendation for approval. The £9m four-storey scheme is to include a club shop, museum, café, corporate hospitality lounge and office space and would be built on the site of the Club Everton lounge.

Green light for Halewood retail development
Proposals to develop a new shopping development in Halewood have been given the go-ahead by Knowsley Council’s planning committee. Neptune Developments submitted plans for an Aldi supermarket as well as individual shopping units.

Hoist and AJB make Bromborough move
Two sister companies based in Bromborough have relocated to a new base at The Old Hall Estate. Mechanical handling equipment manufacturer Hoist UK and steel and aluminium fabrication company AJP Precision Fabrications have taken 4,800 sq ft at the site.
