TMP pulls together big hitters in wind power push
The Mersey Partnership (TMP) has pulled together a partnership including Cammell Laird, Peel Ports and Stobart in a bid to push the Liverpool city region as a centre for the burgeoning offshore wind industry. The third round of wind farms in the Irish Sea Zone alone – an area twice the size of the Isle of Man – could be worth £15bn.

Foreign investors linked to Pontin's takeover
An Indian millionaire and the Dubai Royal Family could be in line to buy collapsed North West holiday parks group Pontin's, according to reports. Administrators from KPMG were called in to the company on Friday putting 850 jobs at risk. Pontins employs staff across five sites in Brean Sands in Somerset; Camber Sands in Sussex; Pakefield in Suffolk; Prestatyn Sands in Wales and Southport in Merseyside.

Chambers back £530m rail bid
Insider's Back the Bid rail campaign has received the support of chambers of commerce across the North, united in their call for Whitehall to back Network Rail's £530m Northern Hub plan. The chambers emphasised the invaluable benefit a revitalised trans-Pennine rail link would bring to business and the regional economy.

Alworths eyes North West expansion
Retail chain Alworths, which has grown out of the ashes of Woolworths, is targeting the North West as part of its ambitious UK expansion plans. Founder and managing director Andy Latham told Insider that the company has plans for 20 stores in the region as it looks to hit the 200 store mark in the next five years.

New Boot Room at Anfield
Liverpool has opened a new restaurant at Anfield which will be open to the public seven days a week. The 230-cover eatery is situated under the Kop stand at the club’s stadium.

Levington calls for government support
Liverpool business consultant Matt Levington, from Business Doctors, has called on the government to do more to help the growth of small businesses in the city. He said the demise of the Northwest Regional Development Agency and Business Link could mean the economy languishes in the “economic doldrums” for longer than expected.
