Public cuts fail to dent Enterprise
Support services giant Enterprise, which serves the public sector and utility markets, is confident of further growth despite government spending cuts and pressure to deliver value for money. Chief executive Neil Kirkby said the difficult economic environment had presented its own challenges, but it had also helped to create opportunities for “substantial contracts with long timescales”.

Like Technologies set for expansion
Like Technologies, a provider of IT and technical services to the nuclear industry, has relocated to Lancaster after securing a £650,000 loan from NatWest. The move is part of a growth plan that involves recruiting 26 new staff over the next two years.

Warmer Heating hot for IQ
Knowsley heating installation business Warmer Heating has completed the takeover of Lancashire-based IQ Energy. The deal coincides with the company’s relocation to a larger site at Knowsley Business Park.

Revenues fall at CBG Group
CBG Group this morning said it was on track to deliver improved full-year profits compared with last year although it warned they would be lower than market expectations. The Manchester insurance broker reported an 11 per cent fall in revenue to £4.1m for the six months to 30 June, although the business moved into profit.

Report: 5,835 jobs to go in region
There are almost 6,000 public sector job losses lined up in the North West across 14 organisations, a new study by the GMB union has indicated. The number, which includes 1,000 posts at Lancashire Police Force, is part of a nationwide total of 150,000.

RTS looks to better second-half
AIM-listed technology group Robotic Technology Systems (RTS) is forecasting an improved performance in the second half of the year after reporting a fall in revenues and increased losses for the first six months.

Halite Energy brings in former UU chief
Prominent industry figure John Roberts, the former chief executive of United Utilities, has been named as the chairman of Halite Energy. The company is behind plans to build an underground gas storage facility at Preesall in Lancashire.
