Liverpool food festival aims to showcase local quality
The Liverpool Food and Drink Festival, which began on Sunday with an event in Sefton Park that attracted 40,000 visitors, is set to raise the profile of local producers and manufacturers often overshadowed by larger rivals. Festival director Denise Harris told Insider the week-long event can help to put the city's food and drink businesses on the culinary map.

Merseyside green energy product manufacturer Stiebel Eltron has launched its first range of solar panels as it looks to diversify its offer. The company, which has its UK headquarters at Wirral International Business Park, said its Tegreon solar photovoltaic (PV) range is designed to be one of the most efficient on the market.

Enterprise looks to long-term growth
Support services giant Enterprise, which has a joint venture with Liverpool City Council, is confident of further growth despite government spending cuts and pressure to deliver value for money. Chief executive Neil Kirkby said the difficult economic environment had presented its own challenges, but it had also helped to create opportunities for “substantial contracts with long timescales”.

Report: 5,835 jobs to go in region
There are almost 6,000 public sector job losses lined up in the North West across 14 organisations, a new study by the GMB union has indicated. The number, which includes 1,000 posts at Lancashire Police Force, is part of a nationwide total of 150,000.

Rhino moves to Deeside
Rhino Products has agreed a 15-year lease for a 45,000 sq ft premises on Deeside Industrial Estate, Flintshire, in a deal brokered by property consultancy Legat Owen on behalf of landlord Andrews Property Investment. Rhino manufactures roof bars and roof racks for commercial vans.
