Sportech makes confident start
Liverpool football gaming business Sportech has issued a confident management statement following a busy start to the year. The company, which earlier this year acquired the betting business of Scientific Games Corporation for up to £51.4m and formed a joint venture with Indian lottery and gaming brand Playwin, said trading has been in line with expectations for the year to date. During that time it also completed a refinancing with Lloyds Banking Group that includes revised banking facilities of £90.75m. Non executive chairman Piers Pottinger said the company is now set to launch a range of new games ahead of the football World Cup in South Africa, while visitor numbers to its recently launched SportsHero.com site have been encouraging. He added: “Sportech is realising its ambition of becoming a profit focused, leading international pari-mutuel gaming company.”
