Butler salutes flight to quality as Grosvenor gets busy
Guy Butler, projects director at Grosvenor, has told Insider that despite a slow residential market, further residential space could be created at the One Park West scheme in Liverpool, such is his confidence in its quality. He said: "What we’re now seeing is a flight to quality. The profile of our buyers is risk-averse, cash-rich professionals who are buying into One Park West because they know that with the Grosvenor brand, there’s a certain security and solidity you don’t always get. People are buying for the right reasons now, not to turn a quick buck."

Conditions deteriorated in third quarter, finds Bibby
More than a third of North West businesses said economic conditions worsened during the third quarter of the year, according to latest Bibby Financial Services’ Business Factors Index, a quarterly report which tracks turnover levels and the economic outlook of small business owners and managers across the UK.

QualitySolicitors sign up North West firms
QualitySolicitors has received hundreds of applications from North West law firms bidding to operate under the legal brand’s banner. Chief executive Craig Holt told Insider the business aims to have a presence in every major UK town and city by October 2011, when the legal services market will be deregulated allowing organisations including banks and supermarkets to offer legal advice.

Howards Opticians in St Helens has been sold to new company S&L Wilson for £300,000. The transaction was led by Pauline Rigby, of Lancashire-based Forbes Solicitors.

North West property company Peel Group has secured a £14.7m finance facility from Nationwide Commercial to support its development plans. The group’s assets include The Trafford Centre, MediaCity, the Port of Liverpool and the Manchester Ship Canal.

LandSecs hails Liverpool holdings
Property giant Land Securities has saluted the performance of its Liverpool holdings as it posted half-year pre-tax profits of £455.3m. The developer last year shelved plans to redevelop the St Johns centre in the city as it looked to rebalance itself in the midst of recession. But any fears Liverpool One would suck retailers out of the centres have proved unfounded thus far.
