Businesses embrace fund as applications hit 300
AXM Venture Capital has already received more than 70 applications to the new £15m digital and creative portion of the £185m North West Fund, which is set to be officially launched in Liverpool this morning. David Smith, investment director at AXM, told Insider the applicants have all been of a high quality and the first investments should be made within the next month. The news comes as Northwest Business Finance, set up to administer the fund, said the total number of applications across the six funds has hit 300.

Tactical Solutions sold to St Ives
Print group St Ives has bought a 90 per cent share in field sales and marketing company Tactical Solutions UK in a deal worth more than £13m. Tactical Solutions employs about 320 staff and is headquartered on the Deeside Industrial Estate near Chester.

Gray to leave Peel Media
Peel Media’s executive chairman Bryan Gray has announced plans to stand down after two years in the job. Gray, a former chairman of the Northwest Regional Development Agency, joined the company in December 2008.

Rental growth up at Assura
Warrington-headquartered Assura Group, which last month made a £28m offer to buy AH Medical Properties, has revealed that revenues for the nine months to 31 December 2010 grew 9.9 per cent to £45.8m.

Businesses set for £8m Colwyn Bay scheme
Two Liverpool-headquartered companies have won a contract to work on the £8m Colwyn Bay promenade project. Curtins Consulting, the civil engineer, will provide civil and structural engineering services alongside fellow Liverpool company K2 Architects.

Park buys Birkenhead site
Wirral-based gift voucher and Christmas savings business Park Group has bought the freehold on the site of its Birkenhead head office for £4.75m plus VAT. It will also pay £228,000 in stamp duty.
