Anglesey cough and throat lozenge manufacturer Allens & Co has sold the Allens brand to Yorkshire pharmaceutical manufacturer Thornton & Ross. The Allens brand consists of a range of herbal remedies for coughs, colds, bronchitis and sore throats.

New green-friendly business centre for ACC Liverpool
ACC Liverpool has announced the opening of the E.ON Business Centre at the BT Convention Centre. The centre has been fully refitted and now features a new ‘Netpod’ comprising 14 energy efficient high-speed internet desktops, to be used on a drop-in basis by delegates, clients and visitors to conferences and exhibitions at ACC.

Gill to provide regeneration guidance
Liverpool City Council has outlined the role that former Liverpool Vision chief executive Jim Gill will play over the next three months. The move follows the announcement that Gill will advise council leader Joe Anderson and interim chief executive David McElhinney on “strategic projects” until the end of the year.

Hawtin sells Wirral stake
South Wales property investment company Hawtin has sold its 50 per cent stake in Hawtin Developments, the owner of the former Champion Spark Plug factory in Wirral. The sale has netted the company £275,000 which Hawtin will use to reduce bank debt.

Biomass plan for Wrexham
Green Plan Energy has lodged a planning application for biomass power plant in Wrexham. The plans outline proposed works at the Bryn Lane site within Wrexham Industrial Estate, with Manchester-based HOW providing advice on the site’s environmental constraints.
