Hammonds goes global with US deal
The merger between law firm Hammonds and US-based firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey will create a global top-tier legal practice, but one which still offers a bespoke local service. That’s according to managing partner Peter Crossley, who told Insider the deal meant the firm's clients would be able to able to call on a “whole new armoury”.

Entologi eyes more deals
Engineering group Entologi, which last week completed a deal to buy Irlam-based RTS Life Science, is on the hunt for more acquisitions as it bids to increase turnover to £60m within the next three years. Chief executive Carl Krajewski told Insider the company expects to complete two deals before March 2011.

Galaxy sold in bargain deal
LNC’s deal to sell the Galaxy supershed in Knowsley has been completed. The buyer is understood to be the pension fund of Matalan founder and chairman John Hargreaves. Insider understands the price paid is in the area of £35 per sq ft. Letting agents King Sturge and GVA Grimley have been instructed to re-let the property.

NJL secures consent in Salford
NJL Consulting has won planning consent for 243 homes on a brownfield site in Salford on behalf of construction firms Taylor Wimpey and Redrow Homes.

Everton’s Bellefield plans to win approval?
The much-delayed plans to build housing on the site of Everton FC’s former training ground Bellefield look set to be finally approved today. Members of Liverpool City Council’s planning committee will this morning be driven to Bellefield to consider the site’s redevelopment.
