New partnership to encourage Chinese trade
Liverpool-headquartered accountancy firm Mitchell Charlesworth has signed a partnership agreement with Anglo-Chinese law firm Christine Lee & Co in a move to encourage bi-lateral trade between UK and Chinese small to medium-sized companies. The agreement comes as the British Chambers of Commerce has revealed that more than two-thirds of companies are failing to export their goods abroad.

Sportech signs South African deal and strengthens board
Sportech, the Liverpool-headquartered operator of the football pools, has signed a deal with South Africa's largest pools, tote and horseracing company Phumelela Gold International to give customers of both companies access to each other's football pools products. It has also strengthened its board.

Lloyds set to cut Chester jobs
Lloyds Banking Group has announced it is shedding a further 200 jobs, mainly in its insurance division. The losses are expected to affect sites in Chester, Leicester, Edinburgh, Newport, Copley in West Yorkshire and Shannon.

Retail sales boost revealed
Retail sales improved in January following a disappointing December, according to figures by the British Retail Consortium. UK retail sales values were up 2.3 per cent on a like-for-like basis from January 2010, when sales had fallen 0.7 per cent.
