Cussons snubs Stockport for airport
Goodman's Manchester Business Park has pulled off a major coup, securing a 40,000 sq ft pre-let to PZ Cussons, which will relocate from Cheadle. Speculative development has long been talked of at the park, close to Manchester Airport, but Goodman's Arlington Business Parks Partnership Fund has now entered into a deal with Manchester City Council to jointly develop a 40,000 sq ft office for Cussons, the departure of which will come as a blow to Stockport, which last year saw Adidas move its main UK distribution centre to Trafford Park. Graham Calder, deputy chairman of PZ Cussons, said: "Our present building has become unsuitable for our needs and no longer reflects the way in which we will operate as our international group continues to expand."

Although more known for its position in the coach sector, Shearings recently put a £25m investment plan in place to bolster its hotel estate. It now owns 49 properties across the UK. Chief executive Denis Wormwell said: "In an economic climate where the strength of the euro puts people off travelling abroad, it makes sound commercial sense to commit our resources to expand our hotel portfolio."
