Princes agrees £182m canned food deal
Liverpool food and drink giant Princes has agreed a £182m deal to buy the canned food operations of Premier Foods. The deal, which is subject to Premier Foods’ shareholder and regulatory approval, will mean the transfer of more than 1,000 people at two sites in East Anglia to Princes. The company will also acquire the Crosse & Blackwell, Fray Bentos and Farrow’s brands as part of the agreement.

"Good" first-half for McBride despite performance dip
Personal care products group McBride, which has a strong presence in the North West with sites in Middleton, St Helens, Barrow-in-Furness and Burnley, has described its first-half performance as good despite a dip in revenue to £408m and a 31 per cent drop in pre-tax profit to £15.5m.

St Modwen close to Co-operative agreement
Regeneration specialist St Modwen has confirmed it is close to securing an agreement with Co-operative Financial Services (CFS) to build a 100,000 sq ft office in Skelmersdale town centre. An agreement would kick-start the company’s stalled £300m plans for the town and help to secure about 900 jobs in the process.

Arley buys Preston site
Arley Homes has bought its first site in Preston as part of its continued expansion into Lancashire. The Warrington company has acquired a 1.25 acre site on Lightfoot Lane and secured planning permission for a residential development.
