Green light for £200m Edge Lane plans
Derwent Holdings' £200m plan to regenerate a stretch of Edge Lane in Liverpool has been given the go-ahead by planners at Liverpool City Council. The company, owned by Isle of Man-based millionaire and Kwik Save founder Albert Gubay, will carry out a phased redevelopment of the existing Edge Lane Retail Park site, comprising retail units, leisure units and restaurants. The scheme could create up to 1,500 new jobs.

Proventec readmitted to AIM
Shares in Liverpool steam cleaning and coatings business Proventec have been readmitted to AIM this morning. Chief executive David Chestnutt said the readmission “marks the end of a period of uncertainty”.

Eco Environments expands footprint
Renewable energy business Eco Environments, which is headquartered in Liverpool, has opened an office in Darlington. The move follows recent openings in Manchester, Penrith and Tamworth as the business seeks to expand its UK footprint.

Liverpool powers up with energy research centre
The University of Liverpool is to open a new energy research centre to look into renewable energy sources such as fuel cell technology and bio fuels. The interdisciplinary centre will be known as The Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy, named after the 19th century engineering pioneers George and Robert Stephenson.

Betfred scores at Wembley
Warrington-headquartered bookmaker Betfred has extended a deal as the official betting supplier to Wembley Stadium for a further four years until 2014. The company will continue operating betting kiosks at the stadium, including all FA Cup and England matches.

Chester design and marketing agency Rowan has won the Best Live Initiative award at the national B2B Marketing Awards 2010. The company was rewarded for its work with Lloyds Banking Group.

National flooring retailer Floors-2-Go has taken the final and largest trade counter unit at Commerce Park in Birkenhead on a ten-year lease. The business park is now at full occupancy.

Pure Gym the right fit at Winwick
Gym operator Pure Gym has taken 19,000 sq ft at Winwick Quay Business Park in Warrington. The company will occupy former manufacturing space in Chetham Court after landlord Winwick Quay gained a change of use consent. It has agreed a 15-year lease.
