Dalglish-backed football business enters administration
Complete Football Centres, launched to a fanfare of publicity by Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish and retired Everton footballer Paul Bracewell, has gone into administration. The company, which is registered in Liverpool, operates a football training centre in Newcastle upon Tyne and planned to open 20 centres in the UK.

Cyprotex buys Apredica for £2.68m
Macclesfield drug development business Cyprotex has expanded its US presence with the acquisition of Apredica, a contract research lab based in Massachusetts. The company will pay £2.68m in a shares and cash deal.

Oceans Connect creates 200 jobs
Oceans Connect, a business outsourcing company, has announced plans to relocate its global headquarters to Speke in a move expected to create more than 200 jobs. It’s the second boost to the region’s labour market in as many days after San Francisco-based ServiceSource International revealed it has chosen Bruntwood’s The Plaza in Liverpool as the location for a European service centre.

UKHA tenants unlikely to receive cash owed to them
Tenants affected by the collapse of the Didsbury-based UK Housing Alliance will have to keep paying rent on houses they sold but have not been paid for, a creditors’ meeting has heard.

Leaner Brammer posts profit
Brammer, the industrial components supplier based in Wythenshawe, has reported a £9m pre-tax profit for the six months to 30 June 2010. This contrasts with a £2.6m loss in the corresponding period in 2009.

SIS relocates to MediaCity
Satellite Information Services (SIS) has revealed plans to relocate its London operation to MediaCity at Salford Quays. The company, which has occupied space at the Pie Factory since 2006, will take a minimum of 25,000 sq ft at the Peel Media development.

Redefine CVA rescues Wigan's Grand Arcade
Redefine International has completed a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) to rescue a former Modus-developed shopping centre which had been in administration. Mark Firmin and Richard Fleming, partners of KPMG and joint administrators of Modus Properties (Wigan) and Modus (Wigan), have agreed a deal with creditors of the shopping centre through a CVA proposal.

ISG wins £9m Bury contract
ISG has been awarded a £9.1m construction contract by Bury Council to build a special education needs (SEN) school in Radcliffe. Millwood School is being built on a 5.7-acre site, formerly the grounds of the recently closed Radcliffe High School.

Council starts CPO process
After years of threats, Manchester Council has started the compulsory purchase order (CPO) process on the London Road fire station site owned by Alex Langsam’s Britannia Hotels Group. The Grade II-listed building has long been a problem for the council, which gave support to Piccadilly Place developer Argent to come up with a use for the site.
