Dalglish-backed football business enters administration
Complete Football Centres, launched to a fanfare of publicity by Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish and retired Everton footballer Paul Bracewell, has gone into administration. The company, which is registered in Liverpool, operates a football training centre in Newcastle upon Tyne and planned to open 20 centres in the UK.

Flint sets sail with Mersey Rural Leader grant
Birkenhead-based start-up Discovery Charters has secured an undisclosed grant from the Mersey Rural Leader programme to develop chartered boat trips in the Mersey, Dee and Liverpool Bay. It will be used to modify and equip the company’s boat for scuba-diving, wildlife watching, photography, educational and ceremonial trips.

Oceans Connect creates 200 jobs
Oceans Connect, a business outsourcing company, has announced plans to relocate its global headquarters to Speke in a move expected to create more than 200 jobs. It’s the second boost to the region’s labour market in as many days after San Francisco-based ServiceSource International revealed it has chosen Bruntwood’s The Plaza in Liverpool as the location for a European service centre.

FPB welcomes government’s red tape action
The Forum of Private Business, based in Cheshire, has welcomed the government’s commitment to improving the regulatory landscape. Business secretary Vince Cable said he wanted to tackle unnecessary government interference and encourage a "fundamental shift" in how Whitehall uses regulations.

Redsun completes Bromborough and celebrates a deal
Redsun Developments has completed its redevelopment of a six-acre site in Tebay Road at the edge of Wirral International Business Park in Bromborough. It bought the site from Thermal Ceramics in 2009 and has worked up a scheme that includes a 60,000 sq ft industrial unit to be occupied by aerospace manufacturer CML Group.

Work starts on Cunard restoration
ISG has started work on the restoration of The Cunard Building on Liverpool’s waterfront. The Grade II-listed building, one of the city’s "Three Graces", will undergo a comprehensive programme of external refurbishment.

Sims Metal Management has acquired a waste sorting centre in Widnes as part of a £17.5m deal. The company bought the premises from logistics business Wincanton.

Redefine CVA rescues Wigan's Grand Arcade
Redefine International has completed a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) to rescue a former Modus-developed shopping centre which had been in administration. Mark Firmin and Richard Fleming, partners of KPMG and joint administrators of Modus Properties (Wigan) and Modus (Wigan), have agreed a deal with creditors of the shopping centre through a CVA proposal.
