Nutricia eyes global expansion
Medical nutrition company Nutricia Liverpool is aiming to expand its business into "new geographies" after investing more than €20m in its site during the last three years. Operations director Rogerio Pacheco told Insider the company would also be looking to add to its 320 staff in Wavertree Boulevard and praised the work of the Northwest Regional Development Agency.

RBS to cut more North West jobs
Royal Bank of Scotland is to cut 3,500 jobs across the UK, with 12 offices under threat of closure in England including its operations in Bolton and Liverpool. The move puts more than 500 jobs in the region at risk.

Frank Prendergast, the former leader of Liverpool City Council, is to become the next deputy lord mayor of Liverpool. He will replace Rose Bailey, who died in July.

Dave Whelan: give youth a chance
Retail tycoon and Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan last night placed himself at the heart of the government’s Big Society project by calling on businesses in the North West to back lads and girls clubs in locations around the region. Speaking at Insider’s Leaders Dinner at the Lowry Hotel, he said Wigan Lads Club saved his life as a young rogue in the post-war years and many young people need that same direction now.

The Scott Partnership makes China move
Cheshire PR and marketing agency The Scott Partnership has expanded into China with the launch of an office in Shanghai. The business said the new venture would allow it to offer “true global reach” for its clients.

Port Arcades revamp set to start
Work is set to start on the expansion of the Port Arcades Shopping Centre in Ellesmere Port. The development will take place over the next two years and will involve the construction of four new units totalling 17,500 sq ft of retail space.

GVA Grimley expands niche division
Property consultancy GVA Grimley has recruited Neil Lovell-Kennedy to its specialist rights of light and party wall division GVA Schatunowski Brooks. He will be based in the firm’s Manchester office and moves from Edmund Kirby in Liverpool.
