Liverpool now second choice after London, says Bliss
Grosvenor’s Liverpool One scheme has made the city the first choice destination outside London for some major retailers. That’s according to Chris Bliss, estates director for the scheme. Speaking at Insider's retail event Delivering Retail Growth, Bliss said: "We’re probably going to hit the 26 million footfall mark before the end of the year and have opened 20 new stores this year – and there’s been a similar number of openings elsewhere in the city centre."

Maritime supplier secures funding package
Merseyside Ship Stores (MSS), a supplier of specialist equipment to the maritime and offshore industries, has secured a £850,000 working capital facility to support its organic growth plans. The Wirral-based company opened a depot in Aberdeen earlier this year and has seen its turnover increase by 20 per cent to more than £5m during the last financial year.

Stobart makes £5m fleet investment
North West transport and logistics giant Stobart Group has invested £5m in its fleet after securing funding from Barclays Corporate Asset Finance. The company, headquartered in Carlisle, has bought 265 trailers, including two deals for skeletal and curtain-sided trailers.

DJD to deliver regeneration strategy
Drivers Jonas Deloitte (DJD) has been appointed to draw up a strategy for the second major phase of city centre regeneration in Liverpool. It is hoped the report will help to “lay the foundations” for further development following Grosvenor’s Liverpool One scheme.

Taylor Wimpey buys in Wirral
Taylor Wimpey Homes has bought a five-acre development site in Bromborough for an undisclosed sum. The site already has planning permission for 86 houses.

John Lewis makes Chester home
The first John Lewis at Home store in the north of England is to open in Chester, the company has confirmed. It has agreed to take a 60,000 sq ft site at Land Securities’ Greyhound Retail Park in the city.
