Professional Liverpool makes Chadwick redundant
Business network and lobbying group Professional Liverpool is to make its chief executive Mark Chadwick redundant after being hit by a funding crisis. The group’s board said it took the decision so it can continue to operate as a “sustainable and viable organisation”.

Busy football transfer window for Brabners
North West law firm Brabners Chaffe Street has revealed it advised on more than 30 football transfers during the summer transfer window. Deals included the transfer of Mario Balotelli from Inter Milan to Manchester City and advising Liverpool on its acquisition of Joe Cole. It says it was also involved in Liverpool's appointment of former Fulham manager Roy Hodgson, following the departure of Rafael Benitez.

Liverpool PR agency Paver Smith has launched an iPhone app which offers PR advice to its users. The agency says the software provides "daily hints, tips and advice on PR and communications issues".

Maxwell Hodge offering business advice
Liverpool law firm Maxwell Hodge is offering free advice seminars for businesses in Birchwood. The firm, which has eight offices across Liverpool and the Wirral, has joined forces with advisers Business Doctors to give "expert advice" on how to “become a legend in your lunchtime”.

A Wirral couple have opened a barber shop inside a pub. Frank and Sue Gallagher have opened the unique business venture on the site of Birkenhead's Dispensary pub, which had lay derelict for almost three years.

Wates Construction has opened a new office in Liverpool. The contractor says 15 members of staff will work in the office at 78 Mount Pleasant.

£4m networking hub set for Liverpool
Almost £4m is being invested in a new networking hub and business gateway at the Liverpool Innovation Park (LIP). Its operator Space North West is investing £2.5m, matched with £1.42m from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
