Up to 1,000 jobs could be created at Jaguar Land Rover’s plant in Halewood following the launch of its new Range Rover. The vehicle, which will be called the Evoque, was unveiled at a ceremony in London last night. It is said to be most fuel efficient Range Rover that the company has ever produced. Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover said: “The all-new Range Rover Evoque is an important step for the future continued success and growth of the brand.” The company’s head of design Gerry McGovern added: "It was always our intent to stretch the Range Rover brand to appeal to a bigger audience, and this vehicle will appeal to customers who had never even considered Range Rover before.” The car is expected to be formally unveiled at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September and go on sale in the summer of 2011.
