Peel Energy progresses Mersey Estuary plans
Peel Energy has taken another step forward in its bid to start generating renewable electricity from the tides within the Mersey Estuary. The company has now narrowed down the technologies that should be taken forward for further analysis following a third stage feasibility study. It’s hoped that the largest Mersey Estuary scheme could generate more than 900 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year by 2020, enough to meet the average needs of 200,000 homes.

Lloyd sold in multimillion-pound deal
Cheshire-based technical translation service Lloyd International Translations has been sold to US-based Welocalize in a multimillion-pound deal. Sheffield-based Strategic Corporate Finance and DLA Piper advised on the sale.

Everton get Bellefield approval – again
Everton FC’s plans to redevelop its former training ground have been given the green light for a second time. Planning permission to build 74 homes on the Bellefield site was granted earlier this month, but “legal complications” meant the scheme had to be looked at again by Liverpool City Council.

PolyBlend buys Widnes premises
Plastics manufacturing business PolyBlend UK has bought its 27,000 sq ft trading premises in Widnes after securing a £500,000 loan from the Royal Bank of Scotland. The company has purchased the site in Everite Road from previous owner US-based Polyone Corporation.

Steve Moule has joined Liverpool construction consultancy Todd & Ledson as a partner with a brief for developing the firm’s project management capability. Moule was formerly deputy managing director at David McLean Construction.

JLL delivers at Croft Retail Park
Acting on behalf of Universities Superannuation Scheme, Jones Lang LaSalle has completed the project management of Unit L at Croft Retail and Leisure Park in Bromborough. The 7,300 sq ft new retail unit, which will be occupied by Dreams, was developed on a restricted site, sandwiched between occupied retail units.
