Screen WM enters new dawn in film shake-up
Screen WM, the West Midlands’ regional screen agency, has welcomed the government's decision to create an umbrella organisation for all English screen agencies. Screen WM, which provides funding for projects filmed in the region, including BBC series Hustle, will now work under Creative England. The move will enable the organisation to continue in operation after the closure of its main funding body, Advantage West Midlands (AWM), in 2012.

Entrepreneur cooks up venture with fellowship grant
A Keele-based entrepreneur has set up her own Indian food business after receiving £8,500 in funding. Gurpreet Grewal-Kang will launch Masala Tiffin after obtaining the grant from the Enterprise Fellowship Scheme.

Lingfield wins £25m MoD project
Birmingham-based Lingfield Securities has signed a contract with the Sutton Coldfield-headquartered Ministry of Defence agency Defence Estates. Lingfield will undertake the development of the latest phase of a new town centre at Catterick Garrison, in a project worth £25m.

University submits plans for £10m arena
The University of Worcester has submitted plans to build a £10m sports arena. The Worcester Arena will have 12 courts and will be located at the former fruit and vegetable market in Hylton Road.

Property services firm Jones Lang LaSalle has appointed a new surveying executive to its shopping centre management team, based in Birmingham. Harry Read takes on the role having previously worked at Savills and Bishop Bearnish.

Norton relocates to KNBC
Norton Energy Solutions has purchased a lease on a unit in Kings Norton Business Centre (KNBC) for a five-year term. The renewable energy specialist joins 85 other tenants, including Birmingham City Council, at the Melchett Road scheme.

140 jobs go as Glamalco collapses
One hundred and forty jobs have been axed from aluminium materials supplier, Glamalco. The company, which has a site in Redditch, was placed into administration alongside its holding compnay, Glamorgan Aluminium, after experienceing cashflow difficulties.

Revenue up at Heart of England centre
Sales at The Heart of England Conference and Events Centre have risen by 31 per cent over the past 12 months. The Coventry-based venue also announced the number of visitors rose from 6,000 to 20,000 in the same timeframe.
