Acquisition trio boosts Staffline results
Recruitment giant Staffline has revealed a revenue jump of 79 per cent in its preliminary year-end results after acquiring three businesses in the last 12 months. The Nottingham-based company said that sales leapt from £115m in 2009 to £206.2m for the year ending 31 December 2010. Group operating profit also soared 110 per cent to £7.8m. The company said that going forward, opportunities for expansion and growth would be sought.

East Midlands Airport owner eyes acquisitions
Manchester Airports Group (MAG), the owner of East Midlands Airport, has signalled its intention to make acquisitions following the ruling that BAA will likely have to sell Stansted and either Glasgow or Edinburgh Airports. Speaking to Insider, group chief executive Charles Cornish - who took over the reins at MAG last October, said: "We will almost certainly be interested; presuming they become available we’ll look at getting a vehicle together to buy one of them."

Final Green Street houses hit the market
The last nine houses at Blueprint's Green Street development in Nottingham are to be released for sale on 4 March, it has been revealed. The agent behind the "eco development" said it is open to receive any registrations of interest from now.

Homes plan for royal lodge
A housing development is to be built on the grounds of a former Leicestershire hunting lodge which has links to Edward VIII. Eight "luxury" homes are to be constructed at Craven Lodge, where the former king enjoyed time with lover Wallis Simpson.

Housebuilding projects on the rise - NHBC
Housebuilding levels improved during December with an 18 per cent year-on-year jump in the number of private homes developers plan to build. The figures, released by the National House-Building Council (NHBC), revealed 7,385 were built in December 2010 - up on the 7,149 total in December 2009.

Chesterfield-headquartered Auto Windscreens is to close after liquidators were unable to sell the business. Almost 1,100 employees have been made redundant.

Far Eastern radio deal completes
Derby-based radio communications specialist Team Simoco has completed an Indonesian contract. It supplied a mobile radio system for a liquid natural gas plant in the Far Eastern country.

Insurance man David Brett dies
David Brett, known for his links to the East Midlands insurance industry, has died aged 64. Brett, who co-founded Leicester-based Brett & Randall in 1982, died at his home in Bingham, Nottinghamshire.
