Leicester needs enterprise zone, says chamber boss
The creation of an enterprise zone in Leicester would cap off a "pivotal" year for Leicester, according to the new deputy chairman of the Leicester and Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce. Kevin Harris is calling for the creation of a zone in the city and told Insider: "An enterprise zone would be hugely important for the city; every region needs some incentive to attract investment."

Outsourcing organisation Staffline has continued its acquisition quest with the purchase of Solihull-based recruitment company FourstaR Employment and Skills. Nottingham-headquartered Staffline bought the company for £3m.

Former BMI boss donates £1m to university
East Midlands businessman Lord Glendonbrook, the former owner of BMI, has donated £1m to Loughborough University. The money will be used to establish the Glendonbrook Centre for Enterprise within the university's school of business and economics.

Budget retailer 99p Stores is preparing to launch its 142nd outlet next week. The Northampton-based company said the opening marks the 1,000th job created by the chain in the last two years.
