Travis Perkins looks to build on profits rise
Travis Perkins, the Northampton-based builders’ merchant, is reporting a rise of 20 per cent in its profits for the year ending 31 December 2010. The results, released this morning, show profits at the company jumped to £217m during a year which saw the acquisition of plumbing supplier BSS for £799m.

Vets pounce on management buyout
Two Bakewell vets have purchased the clinic where they work after securing funding from HSBC. Willem Schaper and Giles Bramwell completed the buyout having worked at the Bakewell Veterinary Clinic for six and four years respectively.

£8m sports centre gets go-ahead
De Montfort University (DMU) has been given the green light to construct an £8m leisure centre in Leicester. The two-storey building has been designed by the architects working on the London 2012 Aquatic Centre.

Investors back Nottingham scheme
Nicholas Court in Nottingham city centre has been sold to a private equity firm. The site, which comprises more than 24,400 sq ft, was bought from previous owner PPG Southern.

Derwent FM wins London double
Facilities management supplier Derwent FM has won contracts for the provision of services at two student accommodation schemes in London. The Derby-based company said the contracts were valued at £500,000 per year.

RSM Tenon in profits hike
National advisory and accountancy service RSM Tenon has revealed a turnover increase of 65 per cent in the second half of 2010. The firm, which has offices in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, said that underlying profits also climbed by 53 per cent over the six-month period.

Enterprise scheme helps 90 businesses
An enterprise partnership based in Ilkeston has helped 90 businesses set up since April, it has said. The Erewash Partnership claims to have assisted with the creation of 110 jobs through its advice sessions.
