£10m regen windfall as Derby seeks investment
A £10m cash pot is being made available for the regeneration of Derby, it has been revealed. And it has emerged private sector companies could claim funding of up to £4m per scheme to deliver property projects with Derby Council as the investment partner. Speaking from the MAPIC retail conference in Cannes, Marketing Derby managing director John Forkin told Insider that the fund shows Derby has "ambition". He is in France to promote the city to investors.

Balfour Beatty buys part of Rok
Infrastructure group Balfour Beatty has acquired segments of Rok's affordable housing and general construction division for £7m, of which £4m has been paid in cash. Balfour Beatty says it hopes the move will boost the presence of its Mansell brand in the South Midlands.

Jet2.com to double East Mids flights
Airline Jet2.com is set to double its number of flights from East Midlands Airport in 2011, it has announced. It comes after the company reported a "booming first summer" at the site, claiming it is the "fastest growing of the airline’s eight bases".

North East Lincolnshire PCT has signed a three-year deal with a developer and provider of clinical decision support systems. Avia Health Informatics is to provide its Odyssey medical database to the trust.

Thousands exporting from East Mids
More than 4,500 East Midlands businesses are currently exporting goods, according to a new study. The analysis of UK Trade and Investment data by NatWest and RBS shows during the first half of this year, the value of these was £7.1bn, or £38.9m a day.

Fired Sandeesh in new career move
Nottingham recruitment consultant Sandeesh Samra has set up her own company since being fired on BBC's The Apprentice, it has emerged. The 26 year-old lasted seven weeks on the show but was "fired" by Lord Sugar when she lost a task involving selling blue screen film experiences to shoppers.

Christmas party specialist Best Parties Ever says business in the Midlands has not been badly impacted by the downturn. The managing director of the company, which has a venue in Towcester, told Insider his business has seen a 30 per cent growth in bookings for Christmas parties.
