Council to vote on Tesco and Broadmarsh schemes
Two of Nottingham’s biggest planning applications for years are set to go before Nottingham City Council's development control committee on 25 May. A new Tesco store on the Island Road site, which is recommended for refusal, and the £500m extension of the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre, will go before the panel. The Broadmarsh extension, which would nearly triple the shopping centre, would create about 5,000 jobs, said a report to councillors.

Rolls-Royce agrees Tognum deal
Rolls-Royce has received shareholder approval from Tognum AG to acquire the German carmaker through its joint venture with Daimler AG. Derby-based Rolls-Royce said its original offer price had been lifted by €2 per share to reach the agreement.

Revenue up at North Midland Construction
Pre-tax profit has been lifted by more than 10 per cent at Sutton-in-Ashfield-based North Midland Construction. The company's results for the first quarter of 2011 showed an upturn in revenue of 34 per cent to £51m.

Experian profits hit £418m
Experian has "met or exceeded all financial objectives for the year", the Nottingham-based data analyst said this morning as it revealed its year-end results. Pre-tax profit at the company leapt to $679m (£418m).

Administrators called to C&G Concrete
The Midlands office of PwC has been appointed to handle the administration of Lincolnshire-based C&G Concrete. Administrators Eddie Williams and Matthew Hammond said the business had faced "significant challenges", in particular the adverse weather conditions at the end of 2010.

Record turnover at Browne Jacobson
Midlands law firm Browne Jacobson has posted a 'record' set of year-end results to 30 April 2011. The firm, which has offices in Birmingham and Nottingham, said turnover rose 6.3 per cent on its 2010 results to £35.2m.
