LEPs need to collaborate on funding bids, says director
LEPs should be able to bid for joint funding for major projects. That’s according to Matthew Clifton, the assistant director of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) bid. Clifton told Insider that co-operation between the partnerships would be ‘key’ to their success. He also said that the councils and businesses behind the proposal were “confident” that it would be accepted, following their visit to Whitehall as part of an LEP inquiry on Tuesday.

Bank backs charitable merger
Yorkshire Bank has backed the merger of Chesterfield and District Community Transport with Amber Valley Community Transport. The charitable organisations have joined forces to become Community Transport for Town and Country (CT4TC).

East Midlands companies race up Sunday Times list
Sixteen East Midlands-based companies have made the Sunday Times' Top Track 250 list. The list, which compiles the country’s leading mid-market private businesses, includes Northamptonshire-headquartered cereal maker Weetabix at number 27 and Northampton car dealer Allen Ford at 42.

Nottingham-based law firm Berryman has launched a new training session for employers. The programme aims to advise companies on how to avoid potential pitfalls and costly tribunals as the new Equality Act 2010 is introduced.

Nottingham City Council has been named as the 3,000th member of HRH The Prince of Wales’s Mayday Network. The organisation said it is looking for more “non-traditional” businesses to join its network.
