Sustainability has to be “economically viable”, says Maisey
Office sustainability for its own sake is not a course that should be followed. That's according to Mark Maisey, property manager at E.On, which is building new BREEAM ‘excellent’ offices in the centre of Nottingham. Maisey, speaking at an Insider breakfast event, said: “Sustainability has to be economically viable.”

Node 4 set to open £8m data centre
Node 4, the East Midlands data centre provider, has opened a £8m data centre in Northampton. Nottingham-based designer Paragon Interiors completed the fit-out of the 41,000 sq ft site.

Insolvencies rise in East Midlands
The number of corporate insolvencies in the East Midlands increased during the first quarter of 2011, bucking the UK-wide trend of falling numbers. That’s according to research from PwC.

Northcliffe in radical shake-up
Northcliffe Media, which owns the Derby Telegraph, Leicester Mercury and Nottingham Evening Post, is set to drastically alter its internal set-up by axing the roles of regional editors and managing directors. The announcement comes just weeks after new managing director Steve Auckland took over from Michael Pelosi.

BCC defends £300,000 LEP network
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has spoken out in defence of its government-backed 'network' for local enterprise partnerships (LEPs). It comes amid criticism that the LEP system is becoming more centralised with some business groups missing out on having their say. But BCC's Adam Marshall told Insider the move was "not about traditional top-down relationships" and would listen to all businesses.

The government’s proposed reform of insolvency laws has been slammed by the Midlands region of national insolvency body R3. New legislation involves the introduction of a three-day notice period for sales of insolvent ‘pre-packed’ businesses to connected parties.
