Outsourcery ‘more focused’ after Vodafone sale
Outsourcery’s joint chief executive Piers Linney has told Insider that the £12m sale of the company’s Vodafone mobile voice and data business to Daisy Group will allow it to focus on its unified communications offer. The company, which has a base in Leicester, completed the disposal of the business last week.

Pointon York snaps up double deal
Pointon York SIPP Solutions, based in Market Harborough, has acquired two self-invested personal pensions (SIPP) companies. The purchases were made from EFG Private Bank, which said it intended to retain “an active interest” in both businesses.

Buyout market bounces back - CMBOR
The UK buyout market "rebounded strongly" in 2010 with the overall value of private equity backed transactions reaching £18.6bn, the Nottingham-based Centre for Management Buy-out Research (CMBOR) has reported. This compares to £4.7bn in 2009, when buyout values fell following the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

The number of high value private equity deals in the UK has doubled in the first three months of 2011. That's according to the latest management buyout (MBO) research from KPMG.

Alliance Boots boost for EMCC hotel
The University of Nottingham has submitted plans for its proposed 202-room hotel to Nottingham City Council. It may also enter into what it is calling a “partnership agreement” with Alliance Boots. The university said that Boots requires about 11,000 room nights a year in Nottingham.

NMC reports growth despite “challenges”
Revenue and profits at Nottinghamshire-based North Midland Construction (NMC) have both risen, despite being affected by what it calls a “challenging economic climate”. However, NMC’s building division North Midland Building was particularly hit and is back in the red, said the company.

Administrators appointed at McInerney
Seven companies within the UK arm of McInerney Holdings, including McInerney Homes which has an office in Northampton, have gone into administration. Richard Heis, Brian Green and Paul Dumbell, of KPMG, have been appointed joint administrators.

Growth returns to East Mids, says chamber survey
The East Midlands economy is experiencing “fresh growth”, according to the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce’s latest quarterly economic survey. The survey suggested that despite increases in inflation and VAT, the economy across the two counties returned to growth in the first quarter of 2011.
