Technology, media and telecoms is a growing area, and one that businesses must be keenly aware of, particularly with the rise of mobile devices, e-commerce and social media.
The Legal 500 represents two distinct categories within this field: IT and telecoms and intellectual property.
West Midlands
Technology Law Alliance and Wragge & Co LLP shared the top spot for provision of IT and telecoms advice. The former "understands what IT clients do and can provide relevant advice and experience" while Wragge & Co was lauded as "absolutely excellent – response times are always in the timescales promised and advice is pragmatic".
For intellectual property Wragge & Co took the top tier alone, with Luke Kempton and Patrick Duxbury called "particularly good in the life sciences sector" David Barron "creative, organised and always responsive".
East Midlands
Browne Jacobson LLP and Eversheds LLP were listed in the top spot for both IT and telecoms and intellectual property categories.
Browne Jacobson's Paula Dumbill recently advised a global technology provider on a multi-jurisdictional outsourcing of central services, while Mark Snelgrove advised a public authority on its exit from a consortium broadband services supply agreement.
Eversheds plays a "key role" for public sector bodies looking for outsourcing and innovation in their IT provision and recently advised Bournemouth Borough Council on a procurement of technology for the provision of services.
