Yorkshire CCC looks to future after posting loss
Yorkshire County Cricket Club have posted a second consecutive loss but said the return of Test Match cricket in 2012 would underpin a "much better year financially".
The club posted a pre-tax loss of £460,000 on turnover of £5.4m in the year to 31 December 2011 which they said reflected the lack of Test Match cricket at Headingley during the year.
The loss, which the club said was in line with expectations, improved on 2010 when a £1.8m deficit was reported.
In a statement, Yorkshire CCC said 2011 attendances were hugely encouraging, with more than 12,000 people attending the FL T20 match against Lancashire, and a sell out for the one day international (ODI) against Sri Lanka.
The club said they will look to build on attendance figures with a host of offers and activities being staged to build interest in 2012. For example, all Headingley-based Clydesdale Bank 40-over matches in 2012 are being held on Sundays and be promoted as a family day out.
Looking ahead, the cricket club said 2012 would be a "much better year financially" with the return of a full international match schedule.
Advance ticket sales for both the England v South Africa Test, and the England v West Indies ODI are higher than hoped for at this stage. With international cricket guaranteed at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground until 2019, the club added it is now far more confident about its financial future.
